Essay on Winter Vacations

Winter vacation provides a need break to students, as it is a time for them to relax and enjoy the holidays in the company of friends and family members. Usually, winter vacations come for students right after their second-term exam is over, which means students get to enjoy a few days of fun and frolic after working so hard for their exams. The vacation provides the students the much-needed respite after days and nights of continuous labor.  Students as such eagerly wait for the winter vacations as the break from the studies allows them to indulge in a lot of fun activities.  This winter vacation essay will provide an understanding of the importance of winter vacations for students.

The duration of winter vacations is usually two weeks. The most important thing about these two weeks is that they included two very important events in the form of Christmas and New Year.  It means that these two weeks are full of festival flavors. Christmas is celebrated the world over on 25th December.

The most important festival of Christians, Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, who the Christians believe is the Son of God, and who God sent on earth to show people the righteous way. The best thing about Christmas is that it is both a religious festival as well as a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon. Christmas as such has become identical with festivities, celebration, fun, partying, and get-togethers. Children eagerly wait for Christmas as this is a wonderful time of the year full of joy, family, friends, food, and other beautiful things.

Children wait for Christmas the year around, as they receive gifts from their parents, friends, and family members. The thought of Christmas is constantly on their mind, as they go with their families to shop for balloons, candles, lightbulbs, candies, and toys among others to decorate the Christmas tree. Also, children after Christmas look eagerly forward to the New Year.  New Year's festivities start on December 31, which is known as New Year's Eve, and continue into the next day. It is be remembered that December 31st is the last day of the Gregorian calendar. New Year is among the oldest and the most universally observed events. The first instance of the New Year celebrations dates back to 2000 BCE in Mesopotamia, modern-day Iraq.

There is a strong belief associated with the New Year that is what a person does on the first day of the year, he is likely to do for the rest of the year. It is the reason that people eat good food and wear new clothes on New Year. Since it is a joyous occasion to be celebrated in the company of friends and families, there are large public gatherings witnessed in Times Square in New York City or Trafalgar Square in London. An electronic ball is dropped in Times Square to mark the precise moment at which the new year begins. This event is televised the world over.

Winter vacation ideas during Covid, however, need a bit of alteration. Added precautions need to be taken amidst the worries of a Third Wave and rising fresh Covid cases. However, because of the large-scale vaccinations, people are still enthusiastic about taking a break and indulging in fun activities. People are eager to take vacations to nearby places which are not too far from their home.

Even though international travel has begun to open up, Indians are still preferring local destinations. India is a beautiful country and there’s no dearth of places to take a vacation. A large number of Indians with their children are enjoying their festive and year-end holidays in domestic locales. For winter vacations 2022, the most popular tourist destinations are Goa, Shimla, Manali, Darjeeling, Udaipur, Gwalior, Agra, Jaipur, Amritsar, Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Jodhpur, and Srinagar.

Conclusion

When it comes to winter getaways, people are mostly split into two camps. They either prefer a destination with a lot of suns or a lot of snow.  Whatever is your preference, remember that the vacation is meant to refresh your mind and body so that you can get back to your studies with added vigor and interest. Enjoy winter vacation and have a great New Year 2022.
