Golf and Class
General News | Mar-13-2021
The concept of sports started with the only common feeling that every person loved playing that game. But with time sports have lost their gist and the whole basis they came into existence. Sports nowadays need modern types of equipment on a particular ground. There are still some sports in which someone doesn't need that much of an investment. Cricket, football is some of those examples. But games like Golf are commonly known as 'Sport of Rich'. One has to spend lakhs for better and good equipment; besides they need memberships in golf clubs which also quite expensive.
Bollywood has also made a movie about this topic This issue was raised in that movie in such a way that skills are not gifted to the rich anybody can acquire them. A poor boy who had an amazing skill set in golf and he also won a tournament despite being away from the professional environment and without any training. This movie was quite a ride. The elements that were shown in the movie, that how rich treat a poor boy who doesn't have the required resources when he tries to follow a dream and work towards his self-betterment and also being the single earning hand of his household. The way the lead actor replies to all these bad factors in his life story is quite motivating.
This movie made me realize that how a game that is meant for everybody is only enjoyed by few members of the privileged and rich society. Fighting this societal drawback is a huge hurdle for new players and future aspirants who don't match the requirement list of this game, financially. Several new players drop their plan of pursuing this game because most of them can't afford the expenses which is quite disappointing as this is the lowest a community can hit where a person is not allowed to play only because of the financial resources.
The government is playing some role to close this gap and provide equal opportunity for everyone. The various waivers are being provided by the government. There are new schemes that are about to launch to facilitate new aspirants of India in the sports world. Golf is a game of rich but things are changing and with time changes will occur and we hope this sport will be available for every person who wants to play it.
