A lot has changed for Kavita Devi within the last few years. Since her interview in 2017, the previous power-lifter was a neighborhood of the Indian contingent participating within the planet Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) try-outs in Dubai. Since 2017, she has become the first-ever Indian woman to sign for the company and her appearances at the Mae Young Classic and this year’s Wrestle Mania has made her a path enlightener for the country during a business where not many Indians have succeeded within the past.

However, when asked about her success, Kavita was quick to elucidate that she isn't trying to seek out accolades and her biggest concern is to reinforce her craft. “I do not know whether ready to I will be able to win a title during a month or even a year. But my main motive is to teach hard and to reinforce my work. that is the part that I control which is what ready to I will be able to still do,” she told Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview.

Even before her introduction to the earth of wrestling, Kavita was a long-time athlete. She was documented for her power-lifting and in 2016, she made the country proud by winning the trophy in women’s weightlifting 75 kg at the 2016 South Asian Games.

Months later, Kavita joined Continental Wrestling Entertainment – a promotion owned by the great Khali – and started her pro-wrestling journey. Now, because the sole Indian women wrestler within the WWE, she wants to help the young Indian talents to make their way into the promotion.
“I feel fortunate that I was the first Indian woman to hitch WWE. But, there's also slight pressure because I would like to pave the way for other Indian women who wish to get on this journey. I might wish to assist them in every way possible which I hope that ready too. I will be able to become a task model for all the young girls during this country,” she said.

The dream doesn't look that farfetched at the moment as WWE is getting to be holding their first try-outs in India in March 2019. With the try-outs coming to India, it's an honest chance for the local talent to showcase their talent and Kavita believes that this often benefits the women aspirants.

“During my time, I had to visit Dubai, and I was the only girl from India. Now, the popularity has grown and with the try-outs in Mumbai, women can be available in large numbers to compete,” she acknowledged.
On the private front, her appearances for WWE are quite limited but the clip of her fighting during a salwar kameez within the Mae Young Classic became quite popular on social media. Although she lost the match to Dakota Kai, her popularity grew incredibly among the Indian audience.
