Feverfew Can Treat Migraine Effectively

Feverfew, scientifically known as Tanacetum parthenium is a well-known herbal remedy commonly used to treat migraine. It is a perennial plant of Daisy family. Feverfew grows in Europe, Canada and North America. It is also used to treat joint disorders like arthritis. The herb is highly rich in nutrients and also possesses potent medicinal properties that help to enhance the health of a person and prevent diseases.

The found active compounds in Feverfew are Parthenolide and also consist of several other forms of sesquiterpene lactones. Parthenolide is able to specifically bind to a protein and inhibit its action. It thus prevents body’s inflammatory processes. Feverfew helps to reduce the frequency and the intensity of the attacks of migraine. Apart from this, feverfew also takes care of the underlying factors responsible for causing migraine. These factors are stress, dilation of the blood vessels in the head and inflammation.

Researchers showed through their studies that this anti – inflammatory agent and an extremely powerful antioxidant can reduce oxidative stress and thus provides relieve from the frequent attacks of this disease.
