Escanaba: Disability Awareness

In Escanaba, Michigan at the Delta Plaza Mall, a special event to create disability awareness was held on 3rd March 2018. According to the fundraising coordinator for friends of DATA, Jodi Carlson, the aim of the event is to help people understand how it is to live with disabilities and its impact on their lives. The tagline for the event was Disable the Label with a twist.

Various disability equipments including wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes and blindfolds were given to participants to create that impact.

While taking the walk, vendors were present to offer information on education, housing opportunities, social and recreational activities, employment, and transportation accessible for people with disabilities.

Carlson claimed that the response to Disable the Label event had always been positive and last year itself, around 250 participants were there and its always been a pleasure for her to be a part of the same.
