Rebound is also casually known as board in basketball. A rebound is a statistic which is awarded to a player who recovers the ball after a missed field goal or free throw. It is also awarded to a player who tips in a missed shot on his team’s annoying end. Rebounds in basketball are followed on a routine basis.
It is the game changing technique used in basketball. All possessions change after a shot is made or the technique allows the defensive team to take possession. A rebound can be taken by any player either from offensive side or defensive side. There are two categories of rebounds. The first one is offensive rebounds in which the ball is captured by offensive side and does not change possession. The second one is defensive rebounds in which defending team gains possession.
The missed shots are majorly rebounded by defensive team because they tend to be in a better position by being close to basket. Offensive rebounds provide offensive team one more chance to score right away or by resetting offense.
