New Delhi, 9 September 2021: 'India As I See', a nationwide online painting, poetry, essay writing competition for school students and children with special needs (CWSN) organised by FairGaze, the leading ecosystem for holistic development of school students, engaged with over 23,000 school students from over 200 schools across India. Celebrating Teachers Day, an award ceremony was organised, which included Secretary of NCERT Major Harsh Kumar, Child Psychologist Dr. Madhumati Singh, Social Entrepreneur Mr. Vipul Sharan, Mentor and Thought Leader Mr. D. Ranganathan, to felicitate 33 winners across all the categories. The event also marked the launch of the FairGaze App by Major Harsh Kumar for school students to share knowledge and to participate in SDGs activities, MUNs, co-curricular contests, school events and engage with mentors across multiple domains.
One of the most important objectives was to ensure that a differently-abled and underprivileged child should have access to the same opportunities that are available for other children to participate in this contest. To implement this objective, FairGaze along with i2u Social Foundation collaborated with various NGOs to facilitate the participation of Children With Special Needs (CWSN) and underprivileged students in this contest for the very first time. More than 25+ NGOs were engaged which saw hundreds of participants from CWSN category, a first for a contest of this kind.
The panel of the Jury had a tough task to select winners from hundreds of entries from students from over 150 schools across 15+ states in India, successfully propagating the idea of inclusive learning and equal access to opportunities for all children.
Congratulating the winners of the contest, Major Kumar, exhorted students to increase focus on skill-building, practical learning, and embracing technology to ensure their success. Announcing the winners in the Children With Special Needs (CWSN), Mr. Sharan, highlighted that every participant is a winner since willingness to learn and participate is the first step in any endeavour that they undertake.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Madhumati Singh emphasised the need to be a life-long learner. Concurring with Dr. Singh's comment, Mr. Ranganathan highlighted the importance of keeping the ‘kid’ alive in everyone to be best prepared to take on challenges of life.
Appreciating the efforts in organising India As I See contest, Major Kumar also thanked FairGaze for taking the information about the various initiatives on school education by the Government to the school community. Advocacy Director of i2u Social Foundation Mr. Pranav Menon emphasised the need to ensure equal opportunities to CWSN and students from underprivileged sections of the society.
