Class 12th Board Exams 2021 Cancelled

After a long meeting on June 1, the government has finally decided to cancel the CBSE and CISCE Class 12 board exams. The decision was taken due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country which by there is a situation of intense anxiety among students and their parents. The meeting in which this decision was taken, was a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi. During this meeting, the government has stated that the CBSE will take steps to compile the results of Class 12 students. It will be done as per a “well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner.” This year too the government has decided to give a chance to those students who still want to take the exams.
The announcement of the Class 10 exams cancellation and the Class 12 exams got postponed were announced by the CBSE on April 14 because of the surge in coronavirus cases. The government had also informed the Supreme Court that it will take a final decision by June 3 as Supreme Court is hearing a plea seeking the exam’s cancellation. With the chances of facing a third wave of coronavirus soon, which can impact the children, the decision taken by the government is supported by almost all the educationists across the country. At this pandemic, the health and safety of students are of the utmost importance, and there should be no compromise on this aspect. The government also asserted that all stakeholders need to show sensitivity towards the teachers, students as well as their parents.
The COVID-19 has already affected the academic calendar of this session and the pressure of board examinations has been causing immense anxiety among students, parents, and teachers, which was now put to an end by the government. The COVID-19 situation is getting in control across the country, and in the current situation the number of cases is coming down in some states. These states are managing the situation through effective micro-containment zones while some states have opted for a lockdown to control the cases. Students, parents, and teachers are naturally worried about the health of the students in such a situation, that’s why the decision of canceling the board exams and not forcing the students to appear for exams in such a stressful situation is taken.
