CBSE to Follow Strict Approach in Board Exams
Editorials News | Aug-26-2018
Board exams have always been a taboo in the Indian society. Parents and teachers offer special attention to children during these exams. All of us as students used to be extra cautious during our exam days. Lately, CBSE has announced that it shall ban late entry into the exam centre during classes X and XII Board exams. It shall be mandatory for all students appearing for the Board exams to be seated before 10:00 am. As of now, the timing for the official entry was set at 9:30 am and the papers were to be distributed by 10:15 am.
Further 15 minutes were also granted for reading the question paper. Till March-April 2018 Board exams, students were allowed 'late entry' till 11am and 'emergency entry' till 11.15am, mostly at the option of the centre heads. Earlier such a practice was followed in competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) or Common Admission Test (CAT). It is being said that the CBSE has taken such a step in order to bring uniformity in the pattern of conducting the exams. Alongside it will make the process of conducting examinations more safe and secure. Indeed such steps are really essential for keeping up the standard of the Board exams up to the mark. Further, CBSE has also introduced encrypted question papers. The Board pilot-tested double encrypted question papers during its compartmental exams from July 16 to 25. Each centre was handled the password only 30 minutes prior to the start of the exam. The centre superintendent was allowed to print one copy of the question paper and generate required number of Xerox copies. Presently the Board is introducing this step only with respect to the vocational subjects. The CBSE is planning to soon release a circular for strict compliance of the entry timing.
