CBSE’s New Initiative: Pre Exam Counselling

Board exams and stress are closely related to each other. Students, parents and teachers face a lot of stress during this time. It is extremely important for the students to remain calm and composed and to deal the stress in a proper manner. In order to release the stress that the students face due to board exams, CBSE has taken some effective steps. It has taken the initiative to conduct psychological counselling for students who are to appear for the board exams this year. The counselling is to commence on February 1, 2019. This counselling shall last till April 4, 2019 in order to help the students in bearing the pressure and anxiety that they go through during exams. Effective from the present year the CBSE has introduced different modes through which it will render tips and counselling to the students. The different modes are:
(i) CBSE Tele counselling: The CBSE shall provide live tele counselling services by around 87 counsellors for students in India as well as in abroad. This is a voluntary as well as free of cost service being provided by the participants.
(ii) Enriched CBSE website: For the first time ever an audio visual presentation has been uploaded upon the website of CBSE. The title of the presentation is “Knowing Children Better”. The topics that have been covered by the presentation shall help largely the students. The topics provide real time experiences of adolescents and provides strategies and methodologies that shall help the students to cope up with stress and anxiety in a better way.
(iii) IVRS i.e. Interactive Voice Response System facility: The IVRS can be accessed by students, teachers and parents on the following toll free number: 1800118004. The students can receive pre- recorded useful information regarding the tackling of board exams. The students, teachers and parents can access information such as tips for handling and tackling with stress, anxiety during board exams etc. It is aimed at helping the students with better stress, time management. Also, the students shall be provided access to frequently asked questions which eventually will help them to learn more about time and stress management.
(iv) Question Answer column: Counsellors shall be available to provide for resolution to the queries of the students in the weekly columns of national newspapers.
(v) On line counselling: The students can also reach out for help by marking an email on the following email id: counselling.cecbse@gmail.com.
