Chinese Principal Pengfei Makes His Students Dance To His Tunes
Editorials News | Jan-26-2019
Exercising and being fit is immensely important in today’s time. Even schools have taken numerous steps for incorporating exercise into the school curriculum. On similar lines, the principal of a school in China took an initiative to teach daily exercises to the students. He taught exercises to the students by way of dancing. The dance consists of jazz moves. This idea is the first of its kind among the Chinese schools.
As a part of the usual school curriculum, children have to necessarily follow a callisthenics routine that has been in effect since the year 1951. Callisthenics is a form of exercise consisting of a variety of gross motor movements—running, standing, grasping, pushing, etc.—often performed rhythmically and with minimal equipment, so essentially, bodyweight exercises. The Chinese school principal Pengfei dressed himself in black. He dances and his students and staff follow him. Initially, since it was a new practise, the teachers were not very willing to accept this new idea, but slowly and gradually they could not resist and stop themselves from dancing and resultantly agreed with the idea. Principal Penfei recorded all instructions which can be heard in the loudspeakers along with music. Accordingly, the students synchronised their steps and movements with the music. This helps in improvising flexibility and strengthening the idea of teamwork among students. The video of the principal dancing and making the students and staff dance to his tune became famous all over the internet. People are growing crazy about him. Pengfei is highly amused and surprised by his popularity. He stated that he hasn’t done anything big. He has just taken a step forward in order to improvise the health of his students and to incorporate exercises into their daily routine. Alongside, Pengfei is also worried and scared about losing his job because he has abandoned the practise of the government imposed callisthenics programme. He stated that he may surely lose his job for this daring activity that he has undertaken once all the hype about this is over and done away with. People around the world have given varied reactions to his videos. Some people are highly amused by the dance steps and the synchronisation shown in the videos. On the other hand, some other believe that such accuracy and synchronization shown cannot be achieved in dance forms.
