Enrique Iglesias – The King of Latin Pop

Enrique’s full name is Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler. He was born on 8th May 1975. He is a world renowned Spanish Singer, songwriter, actor and record producer. He is popularly known as the King of Latin Pop worldwide. He started his career during the mid – 1990s on American Spanish language record label Fonovisa Records under the stage name Enrique Martinez. Later he switched to his notable surname Iglesias. His father Julio Iglesias was a very famous and successful singer too but Enrique wanted to make his name on his own without enjoying the benefits from his family name.

Enrique made a successful crossover into the US mainstream market by the turn of the millennium. This happened after becoming one of the biggest stars in Latin America and the Hispanic market in the United States. He signed a multi – album deal with Universal Music Group with Universal Music Latino for US $68 million to release his Spanish albums and with Interscope Records to release his English albums.

Later in 2010, Iglesias parted with Interscope Records. He then signed with another Universal Music Group label, known as Republic Records to release his bilingual albums. He also parted his ways with Universal Music Group in the year 2015 after being in association with them for over a decade. Then he signed with Sony Music and his further albums were to be released by Sony Music Latin in Spanish and RCA Records in English language. One of the very interesting facts about Iglesias is that his estimated sales are of over 70 million records worldwide; thus, making him one of the best selling Latin music artists. From the charts till October 2020, Iglesias holds the number one position on the Greatest of All-Latin Artists charts. He also has had five Billboard Hot 100 top five singles that also includes two number – ones. The popular Billboard magazine named Enrique as the 14th most successful and top male dance club artist of all time in December 2016.
