During the same time, the character of Mr. Beam was created. The purpose behind Mr. Bean’s Character was to show a “child in a grown man’s body”. This concept was based on similar brands of “physical humor” comedy portrayed by famous actors such as Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Jacques Tati (particularly the character of “Monsieur Hulot” portrayed by Tati).
