Gandhi Jayanthi

We cannot even remotely think of India without Mahatma Gandhi. His vision and philosophy transcends all times and physical boundaries. It applies to each and every human being and every country in the world. No wonder in the fight for justice and equality world leaders like Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela followed the path prescribed by Gandhiji. Before we delve into the celebration of his birthday as "Gandhi Jayanthi" let us dive into the reasons why his philosophy is so relevant. What are his philosophies?

Gandhiji's top six, general philosophies in life were:

Faith in God: He like Froebel believed that the ultimate reality in this Universe is God. He had profound faith in God and urged people to believe in God.

Truth: Gandhi ji believed that the highest goal is to follow and attain truth. He believed that we should all listen to that inner voice within us, the call of our conscience which is the truth and that which also leads us to God because God is the ultimate truth. Truth will always help one triumph over evil and hatred.

Non-violence: Gandhiji always urged to shun violence of any kind. It rings true across times and culture. Especially in today’s scenario it rings the loudest that violence only begets more violence, bloodshed and destruction.

Love: Gandhiji always preached Love. He said that it is with love that you can conquer the most brutal of your enemy.

Ideal Society: Gandhiji always strived to create and sustain an ideal society where, everyone could live in peace, harmony, love, trust, equality.

Satyagraha: Gandhiji’s most supreme principle was pursuit of the “Truth”.
