Government Makes NEET Exam Mandatory For Admission to Forestry, Agriculture and Related Fields in Kerala

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is an entrance examination in India for students who wish to study graduate and postgraduate medical course and dental course in government or private medical colleges and dental colleges respectively in India.

Indeed graduating in medicine is a dream for many students these days. With the increasing level of the exam, it is becoming extremely difficult for the students to crack the exam and get through. Lately, it has been announced by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerela that NEET will now be mandatory for not only the medical students but also for those who want to graduate in other allied fields of study. Along with those who wish to graduate in medical courses, even those who wish to pursue courses such as B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Forestry, Bachelor of Fisheries Science etc. will have to clear the NEET exam to grab a seat for themselves. It has been decided that the new admission criteria shall be implemented from the coming academic year only. Definitely, NEET 2019 will prove to be critical for those who will appear for it. Apart from these, for pursuing AYUSH related courses in Kerala, one will have to clear the NEET exam. Alongside, earlier the seats that used to be filled under the NRI quota will now be filled based on the NEET 2019 results. As per the official notification, registration for NEET 2019 has commenced from November 1, 2018. For applying for the NEET exam, one may be an Indian National, NRI, PIOs, OCI or Foreign National. As per the minimum age limit of NEET, a candidate should complete 17 years of age at the time of admission. The maximum age limit to appear for NEET is 25 years (unreserved category candidates) and 30 years (reserved and PwD category candidates) as on May 5, 2019. Intermediate graduates (10+2) with minimum of 50% aggregate marks can apply online at nta.ac.in. Even the attempt limit to take NEET UG has been removed. Candidates can appear for the exam any number of times as long as they are fulfilling other eligibility criteria of NEET 2019. Also, there are speculations that the Union Education Ministry has scrapped its plan to conduct NEET 2019 twice a year and in online mode after recommendations of the Health Ministry. Presently, the NEET examination will be held in the month of May next year, in offline mode.
