Highlights of the NEET UG 2019 Exam

MBBS is one of the most valued degrees in India. The profession of a doctor is the noblest one. Every year lacs of students aspire to undertake medical courses but only a few are able to realise their dream.

This happens for two reasons: (i) The extremely high difficulty level of the question paper; (ii) The expensive fee structure of the course. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is an entrance examination in India, for students who aspire to graduate and postgraduate in the field of medicine. By qualifying this exam they can pursue medical, dental course in government or private medical colleges and dental colleges respectively in India. The application process for NEET 2019 has begun now. The exam is expected to be conducted on May 5, 2019. Alongside, the official information brochure for the NEET exam has also been launched. The students can access it on the official website and derive all the necessary information and details. The schedule of the NEET exam 2019 shall remain unchanged even if May 5 is declared as a public holiday. The important points that the aspirants must be aware about concerning the NEET exam 2019 are:

(i) Mode of the Examination: The exam will be conducted in the offline mode only.

(ii) Duration of the Examination: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.

(iii) The exam will be OMR based.

(iv) Provision of Pen for the examination: The students are not supposed to carry any pen or pencil with them. They shall be provided ball point pens at the exam centre only.

(v) Pattern of the examination: The question paper will be divided into 3 sections. These are namely: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The Biology section will be further divided into two sub sections, i.e. Zoology and Botany.

(vi) Total no. of the questions: The total no. of questions in the paper shall be 180.

(vii) Marking Scheme of the examination: Each question will bear 4 marks. 180 questions in total will carry 720 marks. For every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.

(viii) Choice of language:  The question paper will be available in various languages such as : English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

(ix) Bilingual Question papers: All students who opt for English language shall be provided the question booklet in English language only. On the contrary if a student opts for Hindi or any regional language, he/ she shall be provided a bilingual question booklet i.e. in the language opted and English language.
