Indian Tennis Player: Karman Thandi

Karman Kaur Thandi, residence of the Capital city of India, Delhi is an international tennis player who achieved a good spot playing under the Indian Flag in various tournaments. Karman started playing tennis at a very small age of 8, has shown interest in the sport at the age when children even fail to take a stand. She has entered in the Women's Tennis Associations singles ranking of World by picking the No. 196, latest on 20 August 2018 and a doubles ranking of WTA at No. 293, latest on 23 July 2018.
So she became only the 5th Indian woman Indian tennis player to feature a place in the WTA rank chart. Thandi has a good record in her career singles Win/Loss which is 116/67. Karman is the only the fifth Indian national tennis player to mark in the top-200 players of the WTA world ranking, after the likes of Shikha Uberoi, Nirupama Sanjeev, Sania Mirza, and lastly Ankita Raina. Till now Karman has won 3 ITF doubles titles and 1 ITF Singles Title as the maiden singles title of $25,000 in her name in Hong Kong tournament on 23 June 2018, and the doubles titles i.e., two in 2015 Gulbarga in 2017 and one in Heraklion, while on her junior tour Thandi had achieved her career high ranking of No. 32, which was achieved in January 2016. Relevantly, she had also made it to the semifinals in two different junior tournaments in China. Thandi had represented India tennis at the international level in the Fed Cup in 2017, where marked the singles win/ loss stats of 1/2, and a doubles team W/L record of 1/1, whereas in 2018, with a singles team W/L record of 2/2. She has been supported by the Virat Kohli Foundation and by Mahesh Bhupathi a leading name for India in tennis world. She is all set to be a part of the Asian Games and she personally believes that her losses in past before she won in Hong Kong had enriched her getting a rich experience to prepare for the future events. She names Maria Sharapova as her idol and talks to take inspiration from her. She along with Divij Sharan, had defeated Filipino pairing of Marian Jane Capadocia and Alberto Jr Lim in their career initial matches in the Games.
