Madrassa Popularly Recognized As Oxford School

UP have modern madrassa-cum-schools that combine Quran with computers. In these schools, children are often shown educational movies and videos of nursery rhymes so as to make them pick up the right English accent. These madrassa are commonly known as 'Oxford school'. Unlike the usual madrassa schools where students attend the school in kurta pyjama and learn about Quran, Urdu, Persian as their subjects, these schools focus on English, Maths, Science, social studies, computer science and extracurricular activities as their subjects. Students are given modern education and taught from NCERT books and other texts approved by CBSE schools.

The school is located in Bareilly district of UP. Parents are quite happy with the kind of education their children are getting. They are affiliated to the UP Board of Madrassa Education. Less than half of Madrassas are covered by Scheme to Provide Quality Education in Madrassas Act and are thus provided with books of modern subjects and three teachers. There are currently 220 students at the school, out of which 10% are non-Muslims.

Javed Khan, an alumnus of the university recently got admission into Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University. Another interesting fact about these schools is that they are Quran and Hadith in English. The fact that these schools are also accommodating other religions shows that education is getting reformed and modernized everywhere.
