Michael Jackson: On the Wall, A Tribute to The King Of Pop

This month on June 28 The Michael Jackson: On the Wall opens at the National Portrait Gallery in London. It is going to last till October 21. The organizers of the Michael Jackson: On the Wall says that the Jackson’s impact on the contemporary art cannot be described in words. Kehinde Wiley, David Hammons, Catherine Opie, Glenn Ligon and many other artists give their own take on Jackson.

Jackson is also known as the “king of pop”. He died in the year 2009. The director of the National Portrait Gallery, Nicholas Cullinan says “All the artists included, despite coming from different generations and parts of the worldand employing a range of media, are fascinated by what Jackson represented and what he invented.” He further added that this exhibition isn’t meant as a survey of a singer’s life or music, "But now that a few years have passed since he died, I thought it was time to look at his legacy and his impact on an array of contemporary artists. There's probably no one else in recent history who attracted so much attention from artists wanting to capture his image."
