NCERT Working on ‘Joyful’ Academic Curriculum for CBSE school students
Editorials News | Apr-08-2020
This lockdown has resulted in various changes especially since our education system has been affected by it. Amid the losses caused by Coronavirus, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for developing an alternative academic calendar for classes 1 to 12. The chairman during her communiqué to the Principal has stated that the calendar is under development for attaining learning outcomes in a joyful manner. The chairman also mentioned that this calendar also suggests ways that are meant to use technology for aids and facilitate this process of learning.
The curriculum will also be released soon and has been said to be shared with the Principals. The chairman has further emphasised on new trends of e-learning, as this can only be the solution in this scenario. The Chairman also said that it’s also the time when we have to embrace technology – whether it is Internet-based or even not. Group video calls, conference calls, simple voice calls can also help in effectively communicating with each other.
The chairman mentioned in her letter to principals that online classes have now synced with the normal/routine timetable that we have followed while in school, without proper planning and preparation from teachers, parents and students, and this may lead to more stress without any positive outcomes.
The schools were also advised to follow digital learning platforms that were provided by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD). In addition to this the chairman has also pointed out that aside from the NCERT calendar, during all these times, teaching and learning are the parameters that can also continue with the help of comprehensive digital learning platforms with a focus on providing curriculum linked and curated content.
