Pink and White Terraces of Lake Rotomahana Rediscovered

Researchers said that the lost natural wonder in New Zealand may have been found again. It was previously thought to be destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1886. The Pink and White terraces of Lake Rotomahana in the North Island were a tourist attraction in mid 1800s.

The eight wonder was lost by the disastrous eruption of Mount Tarawera in 1886. Two researchers think that they have found the locations of terraces. Terraces may lie preserved 10-15 metres (32-49ft) below the surface. It may get submerged under the layers of mud and ash. A full Archaeological Survey was needed to dig the site.

Rex Bunn and Dr Sascha Nolden are the two researchers who believed that terraces were not destructed or pushed to the bottom of lake but they got buried on the foreshore of the lake.
