School Games Federation of India is one of the voluntary organizations of India. It was established in 1954-55. At the beginning, the federation has just 5 states affiliate to it. Now, the federation has successfully affiliated all the states along with centrally sponsored administration. The vision of the federation is to provide vibrant and quality physical education that promotes healthy competition within the athletes. They conduct a lot of competitions at national levels in various sports such as cricket, Kho -Kho, hockey, volleyball, badminton, basketball, gymnastics, swimming etc. The tournaments are further divided into various age groups like sub-junior, juniors and seniors to facilitate each and every athlete.
The competitions are only open for boys and girls which are in school and are below 19 years of age. Only these two conditions will make them eligible to participate in the competition. The tournaments see a high turnover each year with more than 20,000 girls and boys registering and participating at national levels. The students also have an added benefit of getting government scholarship from all those who perform exceptionally well solo or in a team. The competition is organized at District, Zonal and State levels apart from National levels.
The federation is affiliated to International School Games federation. This gives the Indian students a wonderful opportunity to participate in competitions that are organized by this International Federation.
