Sense Makes Mass Education Personalised
Editorials News | Oct-29-2018
Usually it is seen that teachers and students feel difficulty in providing honest and true feedback to each other. There is a kind of hesitation that is seen in both teachers and students in crowded classrooms and lecture hall learning environments. This task becomes even more difficult in high enrolment courses. But a recent solution to this problem has come up. An Israeli based start-up has come up with an idea of personalising mass education. The name of this start up is Sense Education. It is based in Tel Aviv and New York. The technology has gained popularity worldwide for its unique artificial intelligence-based solution for finding patterns in student submissions and providing personalized feedback on a large scale.
Sense has planned to conduct a pilot program at a leading American University also. The platform is soon going to spread its wings across the nation. Sense has also won the best start-up award at Madrid's prestigious South Summit innovation conference's enlightED competition. Sense had competed against 600 education technology companies from all over the world and won the best start up award. The platform has also been honoured with the award for being the Best Technology Solution for Learning and Education. The sense platform works in this fashion that it chalks out the usual response patterns that can be seen in student answer sheets. It then puts similar responses under one group. This way the teachers are able to provide detailed feedback to a group with similar responses. It helps in reducing the effort of the teachers also. Seth Haberman, the CEO of Sense stated that Sense has made it easier for the functioning of the entire education system. Students always want the maximum feedback from the teachers but due to large number of students and time constraints, the teachers are unable to render detailed feedbacks and enter into detailed discussions with the students concerning their errors. Sense has in particular targeted and tried to provide solution to this problem. Sense got its funding from angel investors and OurCrowd, a Jerusalem-based equity crowdfunding platform. With the success of Sense in Israel, the CEO has all plans to spread wings all over the world very soon. The pilot programs of Sense are already running in top five technical universities in the US. They are in conversation with other reputed public and private universities of the world. They are quite confident about receiving good enough response from these universities. Presently the scope of Sense is limited. It is focussed only on the Computer Science courses but is expanding its operations to other fields also. Haberman has witnessed that the schools and companies are slowly understanding this technology and wish to make use of it in their day to day classrooms.
