“Teach for Change” Initiative

Education is immensely important for each and every individual irrespective of their financial status. Initiatives are being carried out globally in order to provide education to children belonging to the underprivileged families.
Pegasystems Inc. which is a software company, and performs the task of empowering digital transformation at the world’s leading enterprises made an announcement along with “Teach for Change” which is an Non-profit organization and is involved in developing English language and leadership skills among under-privileged children, the national expansion of their literacy program in order to provide quality education to millions of school children (grades 3-5) across primary government schools in India. The “Teach for Change” is an initiative has collaborated with the state governments so as to better the literacy rates and life skills of primary school children studying in the municipal schools. The initiative has been co-founded by Lakshmi Manchu and Chaitanya MRSK in 2014. The main objective is to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 4 is Quality Education). The programme is already running successfully in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Vijaywadaand Vizag. Plans are now to expand it to Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Lucknow, successfully operating in eight cities. As a part of this initiative a large number of committed citizens in different cities come forward to volunteer and teach children in their neighbourhood government schools. This is helping largely in order to meet the goal of literacy by spreading education to over 1.5 lac students across 1,000 schools. The event was well attended by prolific names such as Member of Rajya SabhaJaya Bachchan, Member of Rajya Sabha Smt. Renuka Chowdhury, Member of Parliament Smt. Moon Moon Sen, Politician Smt. Geeta Reddy, Padmashri Awardee Mohan Babu, as well as member from the Indian film and fashion fraternity including Aditi Rao Hydari, Sunil Sethi, TapseePannu, RakulPreet Singh, Rhea Chakrobarty, Regina Cassandra, Sooraj Pancholi, Kubra Sait, were also present during the event. Co-Founder & CEO Chaitanya MRSK stated that he is amazed to witness that what started off as an individual effort in the year 2014 is currently a nationwide movement which has received the support from 3000 volunteers. He stated that energetic, young enthusiasts who are interested in teaching are welcomed to come forward and make a difference in the field of Indian education sector. The Co-Founder & Chairperson Lakshmi Manchu stated that, the “Teach For Change” literacy movement addresses a very inherent issue in our country – i.e. accessibility to proper education at a primary level. It is hoped that this initiative achieves success and its goal in the rightful manner.
