The Real Life Teachers
Editorials News | Sep-18-2018
Teaching in a government school in most parts of India isn't a easy job. It a challenge faced by most of the government school teachers. The complexity and challenges are always downplayed, underestimated. The teachers barely get any systemic support and are more often laden with age old techniques, poor curriculum, inadequate infrastructure, less number of teachers. Due to all of these hurdles many students in government schools, unable to pass out of class X exams quit studies all together. These children have difficulties with mathematics, English and Science. Mostly because there are less numbers of these subject teachers.
However, amidst all these hardships life throws at us some amazing heartwarming moments. And one such is the story of Sanjay Sen, a physically challenged Teacher in Rajasthan, who does not have access to a wheel chair, but continues to teach his students while squatting on the floor and straining his hands to write on the white board. The Rajasthan government has started a Siksha Sambal project to curb the school dropouts by recruiting more Science, English and Mathematics teachers. Sanjay Sen happens to be one of them. His picture has been doing the rounds of the internet and has touched millions of hearts. He is an inspiration to all the other teachers who really want to make a difference. It also throws light at the poor infrastructure. A physically handicapped teacher is neither provided with a mobility vehicle or a board that would be easily accessible for him.
