The Sport of Bobsleigh

Bobsleigh was started in Switzerland in the late 19th century. The Fourman Bobsleigh got adopted as an event in the 1st Winter Olympics which were held in Chamonix, France in 1924.

The men’s bobsleigh was added in the 1932 winter Olympics, the women’s one was added in the 2002.  In this game the players are required to ride a steerable bobsleigh down an ice track. The three events are comprised of 4-man bobsleigh, women’s bobsleigh. A 2-person bobsleigh game includes just the pilot and the brake man. The pilot makes use of the inner steering rope to drive the sled. The brakeman has to put brakes on the sled and bring it to a halt after it passes the finish line. In the 4 men bob sleigh, two extra push-men get added. The players of the teams have to take about 4 heats and the total time of the 4 heats decides the ranking. The length of the track for the game is somewhere around 1200 to 1500 m longs and has an average slope of 8% to 15%, while having curve radium of minimum 20m. It is important the players glide around 14 to 22 curves on the straight curved and circular tracks.
