Teachers day is celebrated every year on 5th September and almost every one of us are aware of the fact that why it is celebrated. Teacher’s day is marked as the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan who became President of India in the year 1962 and as he was one of the most renowned diplomat and the staunch educationist and above all also was a great teacher, some of his lovely students and friends at this time requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday in India which falls on 5th September. Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan after this said that instead of celebrating his birthday he will be really happy and would feel proud if 5th September would be observed as Teachers’ Day.
Since then, India now celebrates, 5th September as Teacher’s Day where all the students pay their reverence and gratitude towards their teachers for their noble efforts in shaping their careers and also in moulding them. Dr Radha khrishnan strongly believed and said that teachers should be the ones with best minds in the country.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated globally on September 7. However, different countries have different dates for celebration of Teachers’ Day. The celebration in various countries is correlated with either eminent personalities or achievers who have achieved milestones in the sector of education. In India it is celebrated on 5th September where children honour their teachers for the special contribution in the society, while China celebrates it on 11th September.
Importance of Teachers Day has great significance associated with students and also ex-students. In country like India, where people are rich in their historic pasts, our culture which puts teachers prior to parents, teacher’s day has a lot of important.
Teacher’s day is celebrated in over 100 countries across the world. UNESCO has done commencement of Teacher’s day on 5th October since 1994. Teacher’s day in some countries of the world are mentioned below:
India: 5th September
Pakistan: 5th October
China: 10th September
Brazil: 15th October
New Zealand: 29th October
Malaysia: 16th May
At the end there is a perfect full form for the word TEACHER which is T-Talent, E-Education, A-Attitude, C-Character, H-Harmony, E-Efficient, and R-Relation.
