Ashvamedha, Sanskrit: horse penance likewise spelled Ashwamedha, most amazing of the Vedic strict ceremonies of antiquated India, performed by a lord to praise his centrality. The service is depicted in detail in different Vedic works, especially the Shatapatha Brahmana.
