Career Prospects in Psychology

Psychology may be a multi-faceted subject that results in an array of diverse career roles. For instance, a psychology graduate could become a psychotherapist that focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disease or a market researcher that collects and analyses data to present to clients. With potential opportunities like those and more, psychology’s dynamic nature is what links learners to promising career prospects.

With their research-oriented outlook, critical thinking abilities, and powerful problem-solving skills, it’s no surprise that psychology degree holders are highly wanted. This may be the rationale why the general employment of psychologists within the US is projected to grow 14 percent from 2018 to 2028, consistent with the US Bureau of Labour Statistics(BLS).

“Employment of clinical, counseling and faculty psychologists is projected to grow due to greater demand for psychological services in schools, hospitals, psychological state centers, and welfare work agencies,” BLS’s Occupational Outlook Handbook said.

“Demand for clinical and counseling psychologists will increase as people still address psychologists for help with their problems. Psychologists also are going to be needed to supply services to an aging population, helping people affect the mental and physical changes that happen as they get older .”

And within the UK, a recent survey revealed that the country is facing a shortage of psychological state professionals. British Medical Association’s analysis of workforce figures and survey of quite 1,000 doctors, psychologists, and mental health nurses, was administered alongside the Royal College of Nursing and therefore the Association of Clinical Psychologists UK.

“Almost seven out of 10 respondents add teams with vital members of staff missing most or all of the time. Nearly half (47 percent) of doctors work shifts during which they're down a minimum of one medical colleague,” the survey found.
