Cheating: A Issue In Homeschooling

Since the starting of covid-19 the schools from k-12 and universities have been obligated to shift their education online or shift from regular schooling to homeschooling. With the whole education shifting online the exams are also online. When the tests or exams were given in our traditional schooling system students used to cheat and as now the schools’ exams are online the rate of cheating is on the upswing.

Both the students; who had great academic results, and the students who had average results, are to be detected cheating while giving exams online. And this culture is in every school and university no matter the age or class. Even the children from kindergarten to 5; as here it can be seen children’s parents are the ones completing their children's exams before handing them in.

Now, schools and universities have started hiring people to monitor students giving exams online with their cameras on. Other schools simply ask students to turn their cameras on nevertheless the situation cannot be solved as students and their teaching patterns still escape the eyes of invigilators as they don’t turn their recording on and if they do they don’t recheck the recordings.

For instance, a well-named university in the Atlantic had asked their students to send them recording turn-on on their computer to send to university after turning in their exams. When the university received such videos, they hired personnel to check them and discover if anyone is cheating. While checking those videos, in one video one man was seen giving exams for many students across universities and even the country. And when the university thoroughly checked these videos they saw a chart of students with their names in the room in which he was giving the exam.

The concern over the rise in cheating is getting momentous. In homeschooling, some students are more comfortable at home and have increased their skills while many students don’t study at all and waste their time. When it comes to exams their gateway and last resort is to cheat by any means possible even when it comes to paying to cheat.

Not all parents don’t stop their children from cheating instead they become their child’s accomplices in such activities. In online classes, due to covid-19, their main excuse is we cannot put full attention on our kids and we also have to look after our home. Thus, we are not stopping our children from cheating to pass exams. All in all, the loss is of children and not of anyone else neither their parents, neither teachers nor the person giving exams.
