Flipped Classrooms Increase Student Interaction
Education News | Nov-22-2024
Class Reversal Causes More Student Engagement Flipped classrooms are changing the normal learning environment as they enhance this by promoting interaction among students. Students viewers a lecture or reading at home and then apply what they have learned through in-class practice and exercise. This approach also changes the role of learning from the 'received' knowledge paradigm to the 'engagement' model. In the classroom, instead of sitting and listening to the teacher speak for 45 minutes to an hour, the children dialogue, work, solve problems, and are given individual attention by the teachers. Through the use of this type of environment, more engagement occurs with students sorting out aspects and thoroughly analyzing them with cooperation. Interactive teaching environments, as employed in the case of the flipped classroom model, involves students using each other to learn due to shared group work as practice platforms. Not only does this interaction put one's own understanding into perspective, but one's ability to communicate as well as work in a team is also improved. Students, relieved of the pressure of having to attend to the words of so many teachers in a day, can have more directed time to discuss and be understood and guided by the same teachers. In addition, flipped classrooms are conducive to students being responsible for their own learning. Instead, they get to read and watch materials at their own pace and in the comfort of their home and thus arrive at class ready to pose questions and even contribute to discussions. Since it makes the classroom more of a dynamic environment, the pedagogy fosters increased cohesiveness and participation from the public. Thus, flipped classrooms lead to an effective learning process, improve students' interest, increase their participation, and help learners with their individual learning preferences for future success.
