Travelling as a Part of Education
Education News | Oct-12-2020
Pico Iyer once said and I quote, “We travel initially to lose ourselves, and we travel next to find ourselves. We travel to open our minds and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can in our ignorance and knowledge to those parts of the globe where riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again- to slow time down and get taken in and fall in love once more.”
Neither an extrovert nor an introvert can ever deny from the fact that traveling is not just about going from one place to another, it’s about exploring and discovering the beautiful nature. On a lighter note, some people travel just to click pictures and get likes on social media. Some people travel to learn about different cultures while some people travel to stay connected to mother nature. In fact, our much-awaited vacations are all about traveling to new places. During traveling, a traveler visits different places and comes in to talk with the public in different regions, their traditions, cultures, and ways of life. Travelling gives us a chance to get out of our mundane routine and explore.
How amazing it would be to travel with our beloved friends and teachers! Exploring unexplored places to learn more and have double enjoyment. Bus rides and train tracks, tough treks and mouth-watering food, sleepless nights and comfy hotel beds, travel journals, and school reports. All the fun activities with our buddies. Our education system should include traveling as an essential part in our curriculum because it gives a whole new way of learning. Traveling with friends gives us a chance to make our friendship more stringer. Moreover, it allows us to express ourselves in newer ways. Imagine, all that we see in our smart classes will become real and instead of just seeing and learning, we can actually experience it on our own. Instead of reading about different cultures or going through pre-recorded interviews, we can interact with the people themselves and get an insight of their actual life in an enjoyable way. A person may forget all that he learned from the book, but he/she can never forget his journey to a beautiful place to learn. Although we have facilities to explore the globe on our armchair but the understanding you get by doing things on your own is priceless. Visiting a new place allows us to dwell in a new surrounding and grasp more knowledge.
Experience, travel- these are as education in themselves. – Euripides.
