Why Do We Celebrate Raksha Bandhan?

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated every year to celebrate the bond between brother and sister. This festival comes in the month of August every year. Also, this is the last day when God Shiva Shravana’s holy month ends.
This festival is not only limited to the blood relations of brothers and sisters of the Hindu religion, but this is the festival celebrated by all religions for the immense love and care between siblings.
The Story Behind Raksha Bandhan
1) Krishna and Draupadi
Lord Krishan went to war, and when he come back, he had a cut on his finger and was bleeding. When Princess Draupadi saw the bleeding in his finger, then Draupadi folded a strip of her saree and tied it to lord Krishna’s finger to stop the bleeding. Then Krishna feels a bond with Draupadi as a sister. He felt the care, love, and concern for him. He promises her that he will return this gratitude in the future. After some years, Pandavas lost their wife Draupadi in the game of dice between Pandavas and Kauravas. Kauravas decided to disrespect Draupadi between everyone by removing her saree, but Lord Krishna saved her honour through his power.
2) Story of Shubh, Labh, and Santoshi Maa
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Lord Ganesh’s sister Devi Manasa ties a Rakhi to his wrist. Lord Ganesh’s sons Shubh, and Labh are watching the whole process of Raksha Bandha and manifesting it. After that, they also want a sister so, they could participate in the celebration.
Shubh and Labh start requesting lord Ganesh for a sister. After some time, he accepts their request and created Santoshi Maa. Then three of them celebrated Raksha Bandhan.
Significance Of Raksha Bandhan
In Raksha Bandhan, the sister put tilak on her brother’s forehead and does arti. Tie Rakhi on his wrist and eat sweet. The Rakhi is made up of Resham ka dhaga, which is the significance of the unbreakable bond,

e. Elder one gives a blessing
f. This is the time when the sister gets lots of gifts from her brother and special attention.
As we all know, brother and sister are living together, they have to part ways when they have to go for further studies or job. But Raksha Bandhan is the time when they will get the chance to celebrate and revisit all the memories they live together. They enjoy this celebration and surprise each other by doing something special for each other.
