5 IITs Rank In Top 100 Golden Age University Rankings 2018

IIT Bombay along with 4 other IITs have made it to the list which ranks best universities established for more than 50 years but less than 80 years. Universities that were established between 1945-1967 were considered for the category. IIT Bombay, IIt Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur were featured in top 100. The name of the ranking is attributed to the fact that the time was considered to be one of the most developmental time in global higher education with increased investment and swift university expansion. India is well represented in the rankings with 11 high level institutions being considered - all credits to multiple technology universities getting established at this time.

IIT Bombay was established in 1958 and is ranked at 57th, IIT Kharagpur was established in 1951 and ranks at 76th and IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras were established in 1961, 1959 and 1959 respectively and stands at 79, 88 and 98 respectively. Among all these institutions, Government of India granted IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi status of 'Institutes of eminence'. IIT Kharagpur was also ranked in the list of top 50 Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018.

The universities were pitted against each other on the basis of teaching, research, citations, industry income, international outlook etc. University of California and University of San Diego tops the list. Other universities in top 5 were Australian National University. Seoul National University, Monash University and Chinese University of Hong.
