Over centuries World’s Environment has taken severe beating in the hands of ever increasing human population. The issues are myriad, to name a few, global warming, acid rain, air pollution, urban sprawl, waste disposal, ozone layer depletion, water pollution. These are affecting every human and animal living in this planet equally.
There is not a single nation which is not affected by this alarming global pollution. These have in turn have given rise to numerous natural disasters in the form of flash floods, Tsunamis, Cyclones and loss to not just human lives but many species of the animal kingdom are nearing extinction and others face eminent present danger every single day. As the human population grows so does the garbage that people produce on a daily basis. Our changing lifestyle have given rise to need of easily disposable products like plastic bottles, plates and myriad of other products that have been added to make our lives comfortable. However, most of these are plastic products, and plastic is meant to be durable and it is nearly impossible to break own. As plastic is compose of major toxic pollutants it has already caused great harm to the environment and is still continuing. Plastic pollution has taken a toll on every living organism in this world. This year The World environment Day will be hosted by India. India has demonstrated great global leadership on climate change and now the major focus is on plastic pollution. Hence the theme for this year is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.
