Bollywood Film in Real Life
Editorials News | Feb-27-2020
Have you ever thought about the Bollywood film ‘Nayak’ happening in real life, where the actor Anil Kapoor becomes Chief Minister for a day? You are thinking that it is just a movie and how it can be in one’s real life! But in India, anything is possible! No, no there is a bit difference, there is no CM for a day but there is something similar like that.
On 18th February, in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, a man, Sonu Chauhan complained about the traffic to the police, as he was caught in the traffic jam. To complain about the situation, he straight away went to the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP). Instead of explaining to him the situation, SP Sachindra Patel allotted Sonu as a “traffic volunteer” in the rank of circle officer to manage the traffic for two hours.
Sonu was instantly ready, wore all the uniform of the Traffic police and went from the police SUV, accompanied by several other policemen to manage the traffic.
For wrong parking and for driving on the wrong side of the road, challans were issued to eight vehicles. A fine of Rs 1,600 in cash was collected in total. At the traffic office, the remaining fine amount would be paid by the offenders. They will continue with this experiment and ensure better community participation in improving the traffic situation. They followed Sonu's commands for two hours and effectively regulated traffic flow and managed to decongest the road, said by Firozabad traffic inspector Ramdutt Sharma, who accompanied Sonu.
After all this, Sonu was asked about the suggestion; he told that the experiment had made him understand the problems of traffic constables and the problem that arises when they, members of the public, flout rules. The entire system gets thrown out of gear, even if one vehicle takes a wrong turn. He had become a more responsible citizen after this experiment.
