Facts About Queensland

Queensland is one of the states which is located in the north eastern part of country Australia. It is also one of the country's six states and it is regarded as the second largest in area behind the Western Australia.

According to the report from CNN, the 2010 spring was Australia's wettest from history. The flooding has impacted hundreds of thousands of people all over the entire state.

The following here is a list of five geographic facts related to Queensland:

1) Queensland has a long history. It is also believed that the region which is making up the state today has been originally settled by native Australians or Torres Strait Islanders ranging between 40,000 and 65,000 years ago.

2) The first ever Europeans who were present to explore Queensland were Dutch, Portuguese and French navigators

3) For much of its concerned history, Queensland has been one of the fastest growing states in Australia. In addition to this, almost less than 50% of Queensland's population is living in its capital the largest city, Brisbane.

4) Queensland's government is now a part of a constitutional monarchy and as such it has a Governor who has been appointed by Queen Elizabeth II.

5) Queensland also possesses a growing economy that is basically based mainly on the tourism, mining and agriculture. The main agricultural products that comes from the state are bananas, pineapples and peanuts.
