Editorials News | Jan-22-2019
Education is a very basic need of the society. In order to spread education, schools are established. Going to school is very important phase in a student’s life. A student spends 6-7 hours daily in school for around 15 years of his/ her life. School often becomes like our second home. In the school, the teacher plays the role of a parent. But what if a student didn’t have to leave his/ her home for going to school and could finish his/ her schooling at home only.
Indeed, nothing could have been better than that. A child is the safest at home and no one can take care of a child more than his/ her parents. Have we ever thought that how would it be if a child is taught by her biological parents and the schooling happens at home itself. Home-schooling is not a very popular concept in India. These days the concept of home schooling is gaining a lot of popularity. Keeping in mind the benefits of home schooling, the Maharashtra government has on January 10, 2019 launched an “open SSC board”. The Open SSC board is an initiative that encourages the students to pursue schooling from their homes. One of the major benefits of this initiative is that it will promote and empower young talented athletes and artists to devote enough time for practise and tournaments and alongside they will be able to pursue education at home only. It is seen time and again that students often sacrifice their passions for the sake of completing their formal education because of they are unable to juggle between their academic requirements and rigorous schedules. home-schooling shall prove to be of immense benefit as it will make it very flexible for the students to manage studies and their passion simultaneously. This initiative shall also offer an additional benefit to those who are physically disabled. State Board Chairperson Shakuntala Kale stated that the application process shall be open till January 31, 2019, and this deadline may be extended. The students who register themselves now, can appear for the exams in the next six months. In order to register, the students will be required to submit their identity proofs and school leaving certificates. The exams shall be conducted in the month of June and December every year. This decision shall indeed prove to be a blessing for all those parents who wish to home school their children and all those children who wish to pursue their passions along with studies.
