Issues and Problems faced by Women in India

India is a secular country, where women are given the status of a goddess. However, the problems they face shows the opposite of this concept. On one hand, they worship them, and on the other, they abuse them endlessly and consider them inferior. Indian women always had to face some issues and problems to live in society. Earlier, there were severe issues like the Sati system, no widow remarriage, devadasi system, and more. Well, most of them are not prevalent now. People hinder the growth of a country and make women feel inferior. Violence against women is a very grave and serious issue that is faced by women of India. Domestic violence is the biggest cause. Further, there are marital rape, dowry-related harassment, genital mutilation, and more. Women also face the problem of gender discrimination. People do not consider women equal to men. They always suppress them. They face discrimination both at the workplace and at home. Even girls become a major victim of discrimination. The patriarchy speaks a woman’s life unjustly.

Moreover, there is a lack of female education. Women in rural areas are not allowed to educate themselves. Women do not get equal salary as men for doing the same work. Instead, they face workplace harassment and exploitation.

 Ways to Tackle These Issues

We must all come together as one to fight these issues faced by women and spread awareness in our country. Every citizen must try to make it a safe place for women to be in. It’s our basic responsibility. There should be more stringent laws against people who commit crimes against women and it must be implemented properly and the government must ensure that everyone is following them seriously or not. Furthermore, opportunities must be provided equally for both men and women. In every field, we must encourage and motivate women to give their best. It does not matter whether it is the medical or sports field, opportunities must be equal and the salary should be divided equally. Moreover, education must be stressed upon gravely by every citizen. It must be made a compulsion to educate every girl and woman for a better society and a bright future. If we follow these steps, Our country would become a better place to live. Therefore, each one of us should treat women as equal counterparts. We must help them at every stage and allow them to make their own decisions.
