Compete at your own risk. This is the motto that is there for the annual cheese rolling competition which is located at Cooper’s Hill in England.
Sounds weird isn’t it! But Cheese Rolling competition exists in real sense. According to reports, an average of 33 injuries per 100 contestants is witnessed, watching this many would agree that this is a very accurate slogan.
This Spring Bank Holiday that is taken as a celebration of the New Year in England, thousands of people will stumble up Cooper’s Hill which is located in the centre of Brockworth, Gloucester. The mob has waited with full patience and eagerly for the unique countdown, “One to be ready, two to be steady, three to prepare, and four to be off!” This countdown is sure to kick off the race of many people’s lifetimes and one of unique history, special rules, and a profusion of injury.
Cheese rolling is also one of the most obscure sports in the world that is being a mostly local sport. Unfortunately, because of this fact not many people know about this sport. However, this kind of sport is very unique, with a rather interesting way for playing the game. So, there are some basics of the game that are basically a group of 10 to 40 people launching themselves off a hill after a seven to nine-pound wheel of Double Gloucester cheese.
