Madhubani Painting - Madhubani Railway Station

History or mythology, education or culture, cuisine or festive, fun and romance, Bihar will always be remembered for its ancient rich cultural heritage and glory. And when we talk of Bihar's rich cultural heritage, how can we forget Madhubani paintings. This art form seems to be on the verge of extinction. Madhubani paintings originated from a small village of Mithila in Bihar.

Originally, natural dyes and colours were used in this paintings and mostly it used to depict stories of the Ramayana as Sita is believed to have been born in Mithila. However, of recent, Madhubani paintings is much in limelight as Mithila artists have transformed Madhubani railway station and adorned it with Madhubani arts. Even the textile industry is recreating and reinventing the art form and it's finding space in our wardrobes. The transformation work was carried under the Swach Bharat Abhiyan and the artists carried this excruciating artwork of painting around atleast 7000 sq feet area free-of-cost towards promoting the art. According to the Samastipur Division, it is the largest depiction of Mithila art in the world and first of its kind. Kudos to the enthusiasm and vigour of such people that kept them creating moments and histories.
