Qutub Minar: Beautiful Monument of our Rich Heritage

Our country is full of rich heritage and culture and we have plethora of beautiful structures all around the country. From Taj Mahal to Humayun’s tomb our history is full of surprisingly beautiful monuments. One of it is Qutub Minar. The Qutub Minar is a towering which is as long as 73 meter in height and was built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak in the year of 1193. The tower was earlier built for celebrating Muslim dominance in the city of Delhi after the defeat of Delhi’s last ever Hindu ruler. This tower is known as the highest tower in India and comprises of complete five storeys and projecting big balconies. The first three floors or storeys of the Qutub Minar are comprised of red sandstone and the last two are formed of marble and sandstone.

The construction of this amazingly beautiful monument Qutub Minar was at that zonal time and was started by Qitub-ud-Din Aibak, but he was only behind the construction of the basement. The construction of the tower was after that taken over by his successor Iltutmish who than constructed three more stories. The last two storeys were further completed by Firoz Shah Tuglak. One can clearly witness the different architectural styles that came from different time zones of Aibak to Tuglak in the Qutub Minar.

Apart from the long tower, the Qutub Minar complex also comprises of the Quwwat-us-Islam Mosque which is the first mosque to be built in our country India and is a 7 metre high iron pillar, the tomb of Iltutmish, Ala’i-Darwaza and the Ala’I Minar.
