Significance of Wildlife Photography and Citizen Science

Wildlife photojournalism and public participation through science act as advocacy approaches in nature conversation, education on the existence of diverse species, and involvement of people in research. It is argued that both undertakings work important parts in the documentation and comprehension of wild life, reinforcing the formation of ecological information as well as aiding conservation. Wildlife photography conquers the characteristics and the behaviors of animals around their natural environment and reveals the marvelous world of the wild to people across the world. The following are images that can elicit the audience's positive emotions, concentrating on the protection of nature and all species. Pictures can also accompany proofs of biodiversity – unique animals, chronicling changes in the habitat, and, in some cases, discovering new animals. Wildlife photography is partially similar with and partially different from citizen science, where the public participates in scientific data gathering and evaluation. iNaturalist and eBird are cases of technologies that constitute innovative ways to carry out bird watching and collect data to be used by scientists researching species location and movements or changes in population size. Such approach enhances science participation and hence makes science more inclusive and for everyone. In concert, wildlife photography and citizen science provide a way to enrich the human relationship with the natural world. Such ideas enable independent actions to promote the desired level of conservation and enhance knowledge and practice in preserving the Earth’s bio-diversity. Such notions avail proof that it does not take the efforts of just these individuals or the government to conserve the environment, but everyone.
