Despite its paramount importance, cultural preservation faces numerous challenges in the modern world:

An impressive thing is that time usually fastens the globalization process and the traditionalities get overshadowed by the cultural homogeneity of dominant mainstream cultures and consumerist trends.

Urbanization:
The development of urbanization and modernization forms a barrier between traditional lifestyles or communities, by refuting many important cultural practices and social connections.

Conflict and Displacement:
War, chaos, and displacements become huge of hazards for cultural traditions, as icons fade, tribes flee, and worships fade from memory.

Climate change constitutes a great hazard to culture patrimony, because of rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and ecological destructions which threaten well-known ecosystems and cultural valuables such as architectural heritage monuments.
