Today, where human has developed a cell to a great extent for a stop we have introduced much new technology that has made our life easy. We have also discovered many new species which are present around our surroundings. And also we have discovered about many extinct animals which were present on this earth millions and millions of years ago like dinosaurs, mammoths, etc. Dodo is another extinct animal that was present on the earth about a hundred and hundred years ago. So let us get information about this extinct bird.

Dodo is one of the most famous flightless birds that became extinct shortly after it was discovered. The Dodo bird got extinct after 175 years of its discovery. Dodo was endemic for Mauritius island in the Indian Ocean. It was numerous on dry coastal areas and in the tropical forests of Mauritius before sailors arrived on the island in 1598. People brought cats, dogs, pigs, and rats to the island which together with sailors hunted Dodo and ate its egg until they eliminated the last bird from the island. Last Dodo was seen in the wild in 1662. It was declared officially extinct in 1681. Dodo was able to reach 3.3 feet in height and 23 and 47 pounds of weight. The color of dodo plumage is still a mystery. Based on the old sketches and amateur naturists, many researchers believe that Dodo was grey or brown. The first complete skeleton of Dodo was discovered in the cave of Mauritius in 2007. Until that time dried head and legs were the only fossils of Dodo. Dodo has a large head, 9 inches long hooked beak, stout body, stubby wings, and thick legs. Dodo was able to run very fast. Dodo was a ground-welling bird. Dodo was an omnivore. Its diet was based on fruits, nuts, seeds, roots, shellfish, and crab. Dodo was a ground-nesting Bird. Female probably laid only one egg per season. Dodo was a symbol of stupidity in the past because it didn't hesitate to approach people even when they were armed with clubs. Dodo is the emblem of Mauritius. Dodo is a symbol of extinction, eco-terrorism, and conversation all over the world today. The lifespan of Dodo is unknown. Based on the weight of this bird researchers estimate that the average lifespan was 17 years of females and 21 years of males.
