The overuse of technology has a severe impact on children.
There are some adverse psychological effects on children caused by the overuse of technology such as Isolation, depression, and anxiety. Overuse of anything can cause severe damage to anyone but children do not have any knowledge about mental illness and are caught by it.
Children's brains are more sensitive to technology and its overuse than adults'. Children who overuse technology may be more likely to experience issues including:-
- Low academic performance
- Lack of attention
- Low creativity
- Delay in language development
- Delay in social and emotional development
- Physical inactive and obesity
- Poor sleep quality
- Social issues, such as incompatibly and anxiety
- Aggressive behaviors
- Addiction to the technology
- Higher BMI
Children can use technology as a supplement but not as a replacement from the traditional ways of education. If technological use is monitored by the parents then it can have positive effects on the children's psychology. In the last decade, the use of mobile phones among children has drastically increased which has led to reducing the concentration power of the children. Children may watch some insensitive content on the internet which may affect their brain and can leave a lifelong impact on them. If technology is used correctly, can have a positive effect on a child’s development.
