Self-control is a characteristic that is very important in sports, apart from other qualities.  Self-control is a  restriction practiced over one's driving forces, feelings, or wants. It seems to be easy but is one of the hardest habits to develop. Self-control is not about suppressing your wishes, emotions, or desires. It is about controlling them and only expresses the right thing in the right place so that it will not harm anyone and also not oneself.

Now the biggest question that arises here is why self-control is important in sports? So there are many points which can answer that question like to make the right choices, as those individuals who are bad at self-control almost suffer from their decisions afterward and then criticize themselves for not controlling at that moment and start imagining the scenario what would have happened if they can control themselves at that time. So, any decision taken by a sportsperson may harm their game so self-control is needed in the moment of anger or stress.

A person who does not have self-control is considered to be unethical by society, which can damage the image of the sportsperson. As a sports person work so hard to achieve a position and it does not seem to fair that much hard work went in vain due to a lack of self-control. So, it is needed to get fit in society.

Self-control is the best tool to fight stress or we can say self-control will help the sportsperson at the time of stress to maintain calmness and improve performance. Self-control helps the sportsperson to calm down and focussing only on the game to make improvements.
So, as it is clear with all the statements that how important it is to maintain oneself. But how a sportsperson can improve our self-control skills? So it can be improved by various methods like out of all the practice time he or she has to take some minutes to meditate, to do yoga and to pray. Do not get stressed because of the date of the games and get enough sleep so that his or her mind always stay calm and last but not the sleep do not try to eat always according to the game try to eat healthily and try to eat what their body needs.
