1. JEE MAIN: This examination was previously known as the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). The students who manage to get a rank among the top 1.5 lakh candidates in this exam, advance to the next stage which is JEE advanced. The Paper-1 of this main examination will also be an eligibility test for the JEE advanced, which the candidates have to take if they are aspiring for the admissions in the undergraduate programmes provided by the IITs. Candidates must have passed the final examinations of class 12 or its equivalent with five subjects. Interested candidates can attempt JEE Main examination for a maximum of three times.

2. JEE Advanced: The JEE Advanced examination is the only gateway to bag one of the 10,000 odd seats for undergraduate studies in the many IITs. This exam is considered to be the toughest engineering entrance examination in India. Candidates who are among the top 1, 50,000 rank holders in JEE Main are eligible for JEE Advanced.

3. BITSAT: BITSAT stands for Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test. This examination is almost as tough as the JEE Advanced, as per the statistics. BITSAT 2016 will be held in an online mode i.e. it will be a computer-based test (CBT). Only those aspirants with a minimum of 75 % marks in PCM in their class 12 Board exams are eligible for this examination.

Candidates having top rank in all the central and state boards in India for the year 2016 will be given direct admission to the programme which they will select, irrespective of their BITSAT 2016 score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

4. VITEEE: The VIT engineering entrance examination (VITEEE) is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology for admission to 5,000 seats of engineering. This examination is counted as one of the best private engineering colleges of India. Aspirants should have secured an aggregate of 60 % in PCM/PCB in plus two examinations. The aggregate should be 50 % for SC/ST/OBC, J&K, and Northeastern candidates.

5. WBJEE: WBJEE stands for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). This examination is a popular engineering exam of India which is taken by more than 2 lakh candidates each year. This exam is considered to be more of a test evaluating the speed of person to solve problems rather than intellectual depth. Candidates must have passed higher secondary (10+2) examination or equivalent examination from a recognized council/board. Candidates who are seeking admission to government engineering/technology colleges, reserve category seats of any institution, including TFW category seats, must be domicile of West Bengal.

6. MHTCET: MHTCET stands for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHTCET). This exam is for getting entry into various engineering colleges in Maharashtra and is held in two phases at two different times of the year. Aspirants are required to have passed 12th from any recognized board in India with a minimum of 50 % marks in PCM. Minimum marks needed by SC/ST/OBC candidates are 45 %.

7. KCET: KCET stands for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). This examination is conducted to admit students into engineering colleges in Karnataka. Aspirants are needed to have passed 10+2 from with a minimum of 45 % marks in PCM. The subjects should have been studied in English. Minimum marks which are needed by the SC/ST/OBC candidates is 40 %. The candidates should be a resident of Karnataka and are possessing original proof of their residency.

8. AP EAMCET: This examination is for those candidates who wish to get admission into the various colleges of Andhra Pradesh. For that, the candidate needs to take the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET). The scores of this test are accepted in not only engineering colleges but also medical colleges in the state. Candidates need to have minimum 45 percent marks in 10+2 or equivalent exam with mathematics and physics as main subjects along with Bio-Technology/chemistry/biology as the optional subject. Minimum marks which are required by SC/ST/OBC candidates is 40 percent.

9. UPSEE: UPSEE stands for Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE). This exam is conducted by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University for giving admission into various courses like Engineering, Fashion, and Design, Pharmacy, Architecture, and Management, etc. Aspirants need to have secured minimum 45 % marks in 10+2 or equivalent exam with Mathematics and Physics as main subjects along with Bio-Technology/Chemistry/Biology/Technical Vocational subject as the optional subject. Minimum marks which are required by SC/ST/OBC candidates are 40 percent. 10 % of the total sanctioned seats in Engineering/Architecture at private institutions in the state will be kept open for candidates of other states also.

10. KIITEE: KIITEE stands for Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Examination (KIITEE). This exam is conducted by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology for admission to courses in its group of institutions. This exam includes KIIT University, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences, and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. KIITEE 2016 will be held in online mode i.e. it will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 60 % marks in PCM.
