Breakfast Scheme For School Students Launched In Chennai

On Monday, State Governor Banwarilal Purohit while hailing Tamil Nadu as a torchbearer of welfare initiatives, inaugurated a breakfast scheme for school students here. The Kaalai Unavu Thittam (breakfast scheme) is jointly accomplished by the Greater Chennai Corporation and the Akshaya Patra Foundation. Purohit said that Tamil Nadu has always been at the forefront of social welfare initiatives. Therefore, It is no wonder that this programme has been initiated to offer breakfast to school children. This programme is being commenced in Tamil Nadu.

 

While expressing hope that the scheme would attain nation-wide stature, Purohit said that he has no doubt that the school children will eagerly look forward to coming to school every morning for delicious, hot, and nutritious breakfast cooked in the Akshaya Patra kitchens. He also urged volunteers, the government and other stakeholders to strengthen the movement for fulfilling the vision 'Poshit Bharat Shikshit Bharat' (Nourished India, Educated India).

 

State Governor Banwarilal Purohit said that he has no doubt that the school children will eagerly look forward to coming to school every morning and eat hot, delicious and nutritious breakfast which is cooked in the Akshaya Patra kitchens.
