Does Mutations Play a Role in Cerebral Palsy?

Hemiparetic and Hemiplegic cerebral palsy (CP) are two kinds of cerebral palsy with the same disabilities where one side of the body gets affected.
Hemiplegic is the more dangerous form of the disorder that involves total paralysis on one side of the body, while those with hemiparetic CP experience muscle weakness and/or mild paralysis on the affected side of the body.

According to the scientists this study is one of its kinds as it was focused on those with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Through this research the scientists have investigated the genetic differences and hereditary factors involved in this neuro developmental condition.
The scientists stated that mutations in specific parts of an individual's genetic make-up were identified. Some of these variations are innate, while others are not, according to lead authors Mehdi Zarrei and Stephen Scherer.
